Permissions and privacy
Understand the permissions Monologue requests and when audio is processed locally or online.
Monologue asks only for permissions needed by the features you use.

| Accessibility (Mac) | Detects the dictation shortcut and inserts text into other apps. |
| Screen Recording (Mac, optional) | Captures system audio and supplies supported on-screen context when you enable those features. |
| Full Access (iPhone and iPad keyboard) | Lets the keyboard send audio for transcription and return the result to the current app. |
You can review or revoke system permissions at any time. Features that depend on a revoked permission will stop working until it is restored.
Local and online processing
With a local transcription model on Mac, raw speech-to-text can run on your Mac and work offline. Smart formatting still requires an internet connection. Remote transcription and iPhone/iPad dictation send the necessary audio and context to Monologue’s services for processing.
Send only the context that helps with the result. Do not dictate passwords, authentication codes, API keys, or other secrets.
Use Settings → Data & Privacy to review available data controls. For a privacy or deletion question that the app does not answer, contact support.
